Mukul Gupta has over 25 years of experience in the finance and accounting industry. He is a global finance leader and has held leadership positions at various large corporations including Bloomberg, American Express, Fannie Mae, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. In addition, he has consulted for medium-sized corporations and small businesses.
Mukul is known for his creative and collaborative approach to solving complex organizational and business challenges in order to provide sustainable improvements to organizational health, efficiency, and profitability. Having built a reputation as a problem solver, he has been regularly tapped for support on analyzing complex business transactions and leading transformational projects. His 25+ years of cross industry and functional experiences allow him to add value to any conversation.
As a Manager of the audit & advisory practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mukul serviced multiple industries - banking, mortgage & finance; technology, information, communications & entertainment; manufacturing & construction; international development agencies & non-profits. Also, as a member of the business development team for clients with extraordinary potential, Mukul assisted technology companies in building business plans and obtain VC funding.
At American Express, Mukul was a Vice President for the US Consumer and Small Business businesses and the Global Credit Controller. Here, he successfully led a number of transformational projects that resulted in improving key business and credit metrics of the Company. His teams supported complex business transactions, including acquisitions, and strongly collaborated with the SEC reporting and investor relations teams. Also, subsequent to becoming a bank holding company, Mukul led multiple projects to ensure compliance with new regulatory requirements and had significant interactions with bank regulators.
Most recently, Mukul served as the Deputy Corporate Controller for Bloomberg LP where he led the establishment of a best in class controllership organization. He supported a number of key business initiatives/ special projects including acquisitions, financing, tax strategies, and other complex business transactions. In addition, he drove various governance/compliance projects including establishment of an audit committee and communications thereof, internal control framework, SEC reporting, and implementation of new accounting standards.
Mukul is a firm believer in the power of education and is actively engaged as a volunteer treasurer/board member for a non profit that brings education to inner city public schools. He also volunteers his time at his children's school.
Mukul lives in New York City with his wife and two children. He enjoys running, playing soccer, squash, and supporting NYCFC. Most weekends, he can be found on the sidelines of a soccer field cheering his children on.
